About the collection

This collection was assembled over the course of several decades during numerous hikes and field studies in Eastern Europe. It comprises precious religious one-of-a-kind items, mainly made of silver and all bearing hallmarks, as well as ergological and other individual pieces. The collection consists of a total of 159 objects, grouped into four main categories: Shabbat and Jewish Holidays (57 items), Synagogue (46 items), Household Blessings (14 items), and Other Judaica (42 items). Please click on the respective category images to view all items in that category.

The collection primarily contains objects from everyday religious life, representative of the former Eastern European Jewish way of life – the last witnesses of a vanished world from centuries past.
